20,000 additional Commonwealth supported places

The Australian Government is investing up to $485.5 million to support a one-off boost of 20,000 commencing Commonwealth supported places (CSPs) to address skills shortages and give more students from under-represented backgrounds the opportunity to go to university.

The additional places will provide more opportunities for Australians to enrol to study in areas of national priority such as education, nursing, engineering, health, and information technology.

These places will focus on increasing participation for regional and remote students, those from low socio-economic backgrounds, students with a disability, First Nations students, and those who are first in family to study at university.

Am I eligible for one of these additional CSPs?

The CSPs were allocated to universities, university colleges, and eligible institutes of higher education via a competitive process. However, student selection and enrolment processes remain a matter for individual providers as autonomous institutions.

To check if the course you want to study offers CSPs. You can call and ask your higher education provider or check their website. If you are eligible for a CSP, follow the instructions on the Commonwealth supported places page to make sure you can get a CSP.
