About

Photography Studies College (Melbourne) PSC, is a world leading contemporary college offering a  specialised creative campus in the heart of Melbourne's vibrant arts precinct, Southbank. For over forty years we have played a pivotal role in driving high quality and innovative photography and image making tertiary education, achieving outstanding results for our students and graduates. Our range of courses includes Masters, Degree, Diploma and Certificate level.

PSC is a highly respected specialised tertiary education institution in the Australian and International Visual Arts landscape. Evidence of our best practice is seen in our ongoing award since 2011, as the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) National Tertiary Institution of the Year for excellence in photography education and our outstanding results in the 2016 & 2017 Australian Government QILT Student Experience Survey (SES). PSC achieved 94% in this survey for the overall quality of student's educational experience, the highest result Australia wide in the Visual Arts for both the university and non university sector. This result is particularly impressive as it comes from the students themselves providing feedback on their learning environment, teachers and resources.

PSC students experience a high level of engagement in small classes that fosters a student centred approach to not only learning but importantly personal and creative growth. There is an emphasis on supporting students in their development and in the transition to tertiary study, through constant feedback, programs such as the PSC Pals a peer to peer mentoring group connecting students across the College, lunchtime social events and study assistance particularly in first year.

This rich educational offering, our renowned mentoring program that connects students to inspiring local and international practitioners, specialised teaching staff and our strong relationship with the major industry players offers our students career focused outcomes and strong industry networks. Our highly regarded national and international guest speaker program, participation in overseas photography festivals and tours, major awards and prizes constantly immerse our students in the visual arts experience. Many of our expert teachers and graduates drive industry through their numerous national and international awards and prizes, their distinctive vision, technical expertise and entrepreneurial ability.

PSC's professional level industry specific facilities include purpose built photography studios with the latest gear and lighting equipment, a high end photographic printing facility, large digital imaging labs and a specialised information hub all in a single central campus. Through our unique courses there's a constant focus on creative practice, inquiry, new technologies and career outcomes.
