About

Since 1856, Moore College has been providing in-depth theological training in order to prepare men and women for Christian ministry and mission. It is based in Newtown, Sydney. Moore College’s vision is evangelical and international, training gospel workers in multiple denominations and various locations.

Students come to study from a wide range of church and cultural contexts, for enrolment in diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses. In turn, graduates serve in over 100 locations, throughout Australia, South-East Asia, China, Africa, Europe and South America.

The College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as an online diploma.

Moore College has consistently ranked in the top ten of all universities and other institutions in most domains of the Australian Government’s QILT Student Experience Survey. For the past five years, overall quality of the educational experience was rated in the range 91.3 - 95.9%.

Policies and Services

Admission criteria

1. Undergraduate courses: degree and advanced diploma

Applicants with higher education study

The educational admission criteria includes an undergraduate degree in any field from an Australian university or equivalent qualification.

Applicants with VET study and work and life experience

Mature age students without a university degree may qualify by an entrance exam.

Applicants with a recent secondary education (within the past two years)

Normally this is not applicable.

2. Online diploma

Applicants with a recent secondary education (within the past two years)

Mature aged applicants who do not have a Higher School Certificate may qualify by an entrance exam

Applicants with work and life experience

Mature aged applicants who do not have a Higher School Certificate may qualify by an entrance exam

Applicants with VET study

A vocational education and training (VET) award is an eligible qualification for admission.

Applicants with higher education study

An undergraduate degree in any field from an Australian university or equivalent qualification is an eligible qualification for admission.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Typically, Moore College students are required to have completed a university degree as a prerequisite to study. Special provision may apply, for students from an indigenous background. In such cases, the admissions process will involve successful completion of an academic entry test. For more details and further enquiry into admission please contact registrardept@moore.edu.au.

English language requirements

Undergraduate courses: degree and advanced diploma

For those without a university degree in English, a certified copy of an IELTS score of at least 7.0 in all categories of the academic test. TOEFL scores are also accepted.

Online diploma

For those without a university degree in English, a certified copy of an IELTS score of at least 6.5 in all categories of the academic test. TOEFL scores are also accepted.

Postgraduate courses

Those whose first language is not English, or who have not completed a degree in English, are required to present a certified copy of an IELTS score of at least 7.5 in all categories of the academic test. TOEFL scores are also accepted.

Enrolment

Acceptance of offer

Once an offer of a place is accepted the student will receive additional information such as introductions to language study and orientation.

Advanced standing

Advanced standing is determined in accordance with the College’s Academic Credit Policy and the Australian Qualifications Framework, Qualifications Pathways Policy. The policy can be found on the College Policy website.

Deferment

Incoming students may defer commencement for up to two years. Students will need to re-apply after that time.

Fees and charges

Fees depend on the course selected, the type of study and the status of the student. There are no student services and amenities fees.

Financial assistance

FEE-HELP is available for eligible student.
