About

The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) is a higher education institution with campuses in Manly and Sydney’s business district. We offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees to Australian and international students. ICMS is a leader in industry-focused, quality education.

ICMS degrees are at the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level as traditional university degrees, but what makes ICMS different is out personalised mentoring ethos. At ICMS our academic faculty and support teams work with you to create a tailored educational experience that will ignite your career and mentor you to professional success.

What you can study at ICMS:

•    Business-focused degrees, with specialisations in entrepreneurship, marketing, fashion and global brand management, accounting, sports management or property. •    Degrees in the events, hospitality or international tourism industries that can prepare you for an exciting career anywhere in the world. •    Information technology degrees, with specialisations in cyber security or big data and analytics, to help you gain the technical expertise needed to succeed in the lucrative and fast-growing digital space.

How ICMS sets you up for professional success:

  • Work Integrated Learning (also known as ‘professional placement’ an ‘internship’) is embedded within your degree at ICMS.  This means that 100% of our degree students graduate with real-world experience – and we organise it all for you through our extensive network of partners. Past students have done placements with the likes of Atlassian, Deloitte, Adobe, Unilever, SAP, ANZ, Amazon, L’Oreal, the Reserve Bank of Australia, Optus, LVMH, Disney and The Iconic.
  • Our courses are built with backward design, ensuring they are structured for real-world graduate employment. You’ll develop the skills your future employers need and want.
  • You’ll do work-relevant assessments, rather than exams, for most degrees because we want your studies to represent real-world workplaces .
  • You'll be mentored professionally. Supported by our Student Success Centre and Work Integrated Learning consultants, you'll develop a career-ready Linkedin profile and CV, practise your interview skills and and be mentored every step of the way.

ICMS is smaller and more personal than many traditional universities, so you’ll have a memorable and fun campus experience where you feel a strong sense of community. We offer everything on-campus and off-campus accommodation options, sporting teams, student clubs and world-class facilities.

The Aspire Institute and the International Sport College of Australia (ISCA) are ICMS's pathway institutions. They offer diplomas that can be standalone qualifications or used as a pathway to the second year of a bachelor's degree is you'd like to continue your studies.

ICMS, aspire Institute and ISCA offer offer several campus locations, as well as online and hybrid study options:

  • Northern Beaches campus – affectionately called the ‘castle on the hill,’ and overlooking Manly Beach
  • City campus – conveniently located walking distance from Central Station in Sydney CBD

Policies and Services

Admission criteria

Admission criteria are the minimum qualifications you need before you can be selected for admission to a course of study.

ICMS has a holistic approach to assessing your application, including reviewing your individual Year 12 subject results and, for High Academic Places, your ATAR.

Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years)

Australian Year 12 students

Applicants for bachelor degrees must complete the NSW HSC (or equivalent) with a minimum Band 2 in English Standard or English EAL/D and a Band 2 in any one of the following (or equivalent) subjects: Mathematics Standard 2, Business Studies, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Legal Studies, Financial Services or Business Services.

Applicants for diploma courses must complete the NSW HSC (or equivalent). Applicants with documented work experience and/or completion of a Certificate IV qualification (or equivalent) will be considered for entry.

ICMS does not use ATAR selection ranks for admissions.

Selection rank adjustments

Equity adjustments

ICMS has an Educational Access Scheme (EAS) for applicants who have experienced long-term educational disadvantage due to circumstances beyond their control or choosing, which has seriously affected their educational performance. A long-term educational disadvantage should normally be experienced for a period of at least six months. ICMS EAS applications are made centrally through UAC.

How Educational Access Schemes work

ICMS High Academic Place (HAP) offers

ICMS offers a limited number of High Academic Places (HAPs) each February intake to students who demonstrate strong academic ability, as evidenced by their ATAR ranking. HAP students receive a tuition fee subsidy for their chosen bachelor degree. The subsidy amount varies each intake depending on the number and quality of applicants.

ICMS offers

Qualified students who are not offered a HAP are still eligible for a place to study at ICMS. The government's FEE-HELP study loan is available to cover the full cost of your tuition fees. ICMS will consider your achievements in your Year 12 subjects (or equivalent) as part of the admission process.

All students are considered for entry based on:

  • achievement in your Year 12 subjects
  • in some cases, an application interview which may strengthen your application.

Other admission options

Schools Recommendation Scheme

ICMS participates in the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS), which is processed centrally through UAC. SRS gives current Year 12 students an opportunity to receive early offers of admission and be assessed on a wide range of selection criteria, including school recommendations and senior secondary studies.

How the Schools Recommendation Scheme works

Applicants may also wish to provide evidence of formal, informal or non-formal study, completed or partially completed, which demonstrates a reasonable prospect of success in the course applied for. However, it is not recommended that applicants rely solely on work experience; they should consider supplementing it with the Skills for Tertiary Admission Test (STAT).
