Principles of selection

To provide transparency of institutional admissions procedures an institutional information set has been produced.

Special consideration

Institutional access and equity queries should be directed to:

Contact phone number: 1800 333 864
Institutional web page: read about the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).
E-mail address:admissions@federation.edu.au

Access & equity through VTAC (SEAS)

VTAC's Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) allows applicants applying to FedUni programs through VTAC to apply for recognition that they may have experienced educational disadvantage. A number of issues might have impacted on a student during their previous study, affecting their ability to do well in assessment tasks. Our goal is to open the doors to study to those who have the ability to succeed. If you believe that your academic potential is not reflected by your achievements to date, and you are eligible to apply under one or more of the SEAS categories, we invite you to submit a SEAS application.

Access & equity outside of SEAS

FedUni's Access and Equity Scheme allows applicants to apply for recognition that they may have experienced educational disadvantage. A number of issues might have impacted on a student during their previous study, affecting their ability to do well in assessment tasks. Our goal is to open the doors to study to those who have the ability to succeed. If you believe that your academic potential is not reflected by your achievements to date, and you are eligible to apply under one or more of the Access and Equity categories, we invite you to include this information in your application.

Articulation

Articulation is a process that enables students to progress from one completed qualification to another with credit in a defined pathway.

For more information download the Learning Pathways Policy pdf.

Credit transfer

Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. This can reduce the number of subjects you have to do to gain your qualification. You will need statements of academic achievement to support your request for credit.

For more information, read the Higher Education Academic Credit Transfer Policy.

Learning pathways

Learning Pathways are formally approved links to enable students to enter and move between courses and programs in different sectors or within the same sector. Pathways may link courses and programs in the same or different areas of study. (Students may also develop their own informal learning pathways.)

For more information download the Learning Pathways Policy pdf.

Recognition of prior learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that assesses the individual's relevant prior learning to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

For more information, read the VET Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer Assessment Policy.

VET pre-enrolment review

Students commencing study with us come with a vast range of skills, experiences, motivations and capacity to deal with the challenges required when commencing study. Literacy and numeracy testing allows us to assess each student's foundation skills that are necessary for the successful completion of their studies.

For more information, see the Pretraining review form.

Literacy and/or numeracy testing

Applicants who have not completed secondary education, or undertaken any TAFE or university studies may be required to complete a literacy and/or numeracy test to determine their eligibility for admission. Any applicants who are required to complete testing will be contacted during the selection period and provided with further details at that time.
