Graduate Certificate in Education

The Graduate Certificate in Education: Assessment of Student Learning (GCEASL), a TEQSA accredited course, is ACER’s flagship professional learning offering. Drawing on the world-leading research and assessment expertise of ACER, the Assessment of Student Learning program ignites new thinking about assessment and provides the practical techniques to make an immediate impact on students’ learning progress. Regardless of career stage, this course provides educators with the skills and understanding to provide leadership in a developmental approach to assessment. We understand not everyone comes from the same starting point. Whether you’re new to teaching or have decades of experience, this program is tailored to those who want to become leaders in student assessment.

The entry requirements are simple:

  • You have an undergraduate degree (at least) in a relevant discipline from an approved tertiary institution;
  • You have experience in an education setting; and
  • You meet the minimum English language entry requirements. If you are not a native English speaker, an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic) assessment with an average band score of 7.5 across all four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing is assumed.

Understanding Rasch Measurement Theory (masters level course)

This course is designed for those with a desire to delve deeper into measurement theory. It is ideal for both education professionals looking to improve their understanding and application of measurement tools, and early career researchers looking to enter the field.

If you see yourself as an education professional, test developer, educational research and evaluation project manager, researcher, data analyst or quantitative research methodologist, then this course is for you.

The entry requirements are simple:

  • Appropriate 4-year degree, or equivalent;
  • Experience or an interest in quantitative methodology would be of benefit to students;
  • Meet the minimum English language entry requirements. If you are not a native English speaker, an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic) assessment with an average band score of 7.5 across all four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing is assumed.
